Community Grants 2010

The Rotary Club of Dingley Village recently had the pleasurable task of presenting cheques to seven local groups who were recipients of our Community Grants Program.  Our fundraising efforts allow us to put money back into the local community by way of grants, which we advertise.  At the closing date we had received a substantial number of applications for various worthwhile community projects and funding was awarded to the following groups –

§         Dingley Village Neighbourhood House

§         Dingley Village Community Advice Bureau

§         Little Villagers Child Care Centre

§         Stanford Theatre

§         Abbeyfield Society Dingley Village

§         Tiara Project

§         Cheltenham Scouting Group.

Representatives from each group attended a recent Rotary Meeting to receive their grant cheque and talked about their specific project for which the grant was assigned.  Projects covered a diverse range of needs including stackable seat trolleys, laptop computer, high chairs, production of a play to raise money for charity, a garden shed, a bbq and debutante dresses for disabled teenage girls.  We wish to thank all groups who applied and we hope that our fund raising this year will be successful so that we can continue with the Community Grants program next year.

Our photo shows President Steven Brough and past President Alistair Law with the successful representatives after receiving their Community Grant cheques.

We also recently presented a cheque to the Athol Road Primary School Council to help finance swimming lessons for some needy students.  In Australia, with our beach loving culture, it is such an important thing for all our young citizens to know how to swim.  Without our help, these students would not have been able to attend the lessons.
